About Karla Pearce

Karla Pearce studied at the Alberta College of Art and Design and the University of Calgary. 
 

Karla Pearce is a painter, teacher, author, publisher and producer.

 

Karla Pearce currently has had her work shown by many galleries throughout Western Canada, some of these are; Centre 64 - Kimberly, The Edmonton Art Gallery, Alternator Gallery - Kelowna, Nova Gallery -Calgary and Truck artist Run Centre - Calgary. Her paintings have been seen in the West Kootenays at Cowan’s, The Firehall Art Gallery, and Trail Library, Nelson Museum, Castlegar Museum and the Castlegar Public Library as well as various local venues around the area. 

Pearce is currently represented by Tolteck Gallery in
Crawford Bay, Funks Way Gallery in Grand Forks, Main Stage Art Gallery in Rossland, The Painted Turtle Gallery in Creston, The Rouge Gallery Rossland, and Artisan Gallery in Trail .

 

Teaching art is also one of Karla’s greatest joys. She has recently opened up her own studio, The Karla Pearce Studio in Blueberry where she teaches Art Classes in conjunction with Selkirk College.

 

Pearce has also done a great deal of volunteer work over the years with children and has completed many public murals. Her mural accomplishments are, Blueberry School Castlegar, Winlaw Elementary School, Trail's Memorial arena, Rosemont Elementary in Nelson, Nelson Civic Centre and Central School. All projects Pearce completed the work with local children.

 

She has recently published her first book “Anise and the Magic Fish” which she wrote and illustrated. She writes an arts column, The Creative Edge, for Kootenay Carnival Magazine.

 

Having worked in radio, BKRadio, for four years Pearce has recently moved The Creative Edge Feature to Television format and is now Reporter / Producer of, The Creative Edge on Shaw TV. Pearce also published and edited an artist run magazine called SKAT (Some Kootenay Arts Talk) that was published in the West Kootenays 2003-2005.

 

Karla Pearce lives and paints in Blueberry BC with her husband and their three children .
